  • Build rapport and productive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, field, and other personnel to influence decisions for purchasing, scheduling, installations, and work completion as well as the sales and business systems functions. Motivates team members and maintains high employee morale.  Instruct and direct appropriate personnel to properly staff jobs to control labor costs. Promptly address customer complaints to ensure resolution and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Maximize effective cost control by proper staffing, training, tools, test equipment, and systems.  Ensures procedures are in place to allow staff to complete all work in a cost-effective and high-quality manner.  
  • Monitor billings and take action to ensure maximum cash flow. Assure compliance with company standards. Understand mechanical systems and appropriate codes and industry standards.  Assure permits are secured where applicable.
  • Regularly review operation policies, procedures, and methods.  Measure the effectiveness of existing programs, identify problems or weaknesses, and recommend new methods or corrective action.  Establish policies and procedures necessary for smooth and timely internal administration of the controls department.
  • Develop and implement programs to improve the skills of staff as individuals as well as a group. Instruct, direct, and monitor staff in applying principles of cost/benefit to gain maximum utilization of company resources.  Responsible for maintaining estimated budget goals. Requirements

Position Summary:

The Tustin Group is seeking a full-time Building Automation Sales Executive to be located in Baltimore, MD, with flexibility for remote work. This is a hybrid role and your daily work will include building relationships with potential clients and identifying business opportunities to sell our mechanical, energy, water, fire protection, and security services. Your primary responsibility will be the sale of Building Automation and Controls and the development of demand service business through building automation retrofits. You will be responsible for providing complex, integrated solutions to customers, driving new business by developing new ideas, tailoring products and services to requirements, and increasing the company’s profitability.

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Background in sales, especially in building automation/controls is a must
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building control systems
  • Demonstrated ability to close sales and meet sales goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and team members
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of industry trends and competitive landscape to better position the company
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different client sites in the region
  • Experience with reading schematics and blueprints, as well as knowledge of codes and regulations pertaining to construction and the environment is a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision

Summary

The Staff Accountant at The Tustin Group plays a key role in daily accounting operations, contributing to the overall success of our finance and accounting team. This position focuses on processing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate transactional records, supporting year-end and other audits, and creating and analyzing financial reports. This role offers growth opportunities for individuals with strong accounting skills, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process daily banking transactions.
  • Assist in ensuring an accurate and timely monthly accounting closing process.
  • Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with intercompany transactions, expense reimbursement, and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end close and regular business operations.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Understanding of US GAAP principles.
  • Strong software and Excel background.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
